Ok, so Michelle & John... Where do I begin... A bit of purple, a bit of zebra, a bit of asian inspiration, and, oh yeah, dont forget about Star Wars!!! This wedding will always stand out due to their fabulous personalities and great design, this day was truly one-of-a-kind. We took over the Harriet in CityPlace and created quite a roar with the Star Wars characters around. You may remember seeing France on the blog a few years back as we did a birthday celebration for her. This year she became one of my bride's, showing me once again what true beauty and grace are. Her and Ron have a love affair that was shared by their closest friends and family in an intimate ceremony and a grand reception. France's style is impeccable! Ivory and black damask with touches of crystal made for a sparkling wedding. A special thanks to all those who helped to create the night of her dreams. Daniel Events for amazing florals, Sugar Chef for a fabulous cake, Over the Top for the stunning custom linens, Mirasol Country Club for the delicious food, and of course Nina Sutherland for capturing it all in her magical way.

I do not often attend an engagement session with my clients, as I feel it is their time to bond with the photographer. However, with Michelle and John, I just had to be there. This amazing couple has so many interests and a unique vision that they decided to go vintage, pin-up style for the portrait session. Michelle kept telling me she should have been born in the pin-up era, and after this shoot, I think she is right! The crew at Ragtops Motorcar Museum were kind enough to give Michelle and John the whole place to use as the backdrop of their photos. Take a great couple, add in some vintage decor and the amazing photographic eye of Sara Kauss, and magic happens. Here are some highlights - enjoy!!

Holiday Details

A beautifully wrapped package is a gift in itself! Yes gift presentation is an art form, but everyone can take elements from the pro's and use them to make their holiday packages shine. First, look to unconventional means for packaging. Try a hat box or small trunk to put your gift in. These can be easily found at your local craft store. Stuff them with shredded fill or tissue paper and enclose your present. Next search for embellishments. If the gift already comes in a simple box or bag, visit a local scrapbooking store for items or decals to take that gift packing from the ordinary to the extraordinary. The use of rub on quotes or 3 dimensional accents can personalize just about any generic store packaging. Lastly, do not forget to coordinate. Plan ahead to keep all your wrapping to a seasonal color scheme of your choosing. Look for items that play off those colors and add them to the packaging presentation. Buy a simple gift bag and change the handles with a coordinating ribbon, tie an ornament on and sign it with a paint pen instead of a gift tag, or hand stamp tissue paper to add extra highlight to the grouping. Whatever you wrap this holiday season, make sure the outside is good as the inside.

The Knot - Liz and Gavin

I am always so excited to learn when one of our couple's weddings will be featured in The Knot. Liz and Gavin had an amazing wedding at the Spanish Monastery in Miami Beach. The wedding style was reflective of this great couple and their families - romantic, sophisticated and fun. The evening began with a beautiful ceremony in the chapel followed by a romantic candlelit dinner under the cloisters and then was topped off by dancing (or shall I say Rockin' out) to Fifth Avenue under the stars. Nothing could stop this day from being magical, not even a lucky rain shower. Thank you again for allowing Creative Touch to be part of this special time in your lives and congratulations on being featured in the upcoming Spring issue.

Fall into Wedding Season

Autumn is one of my favorite times of the year. With wedding and event season returning in early October, we begin to see the stunning hues of oranges, yellows, reds and chocolate browns. For many, it reflects the changing of the leaves or the highlights of a sunset. These colors, when accented by amber up lighting, transform any location to a setting warmed with a candlelight glow. Find added inspiration in everyday items such as coffee beans or pears to accent the event decor.

When Laura first came to me, two years ago, she was looking for a sophisticated and unique venue for her wedding. After getting to her know a bit, it seemed like the Norton Museum of Art would be a perfect location for her special day. We worked side-by-side on planning her wedding and soon became fast friends. I have been fortunate enough to spend time with her and Jose's beautiful daughter, Jocelyn. It was a privilege to work with them and the day was truly gorgeous. It is a moment usually filled with excitement, anticipation, and joy. However, as often the case for my bride's, it is a moment to be silly and get in a few more laughs. Sometimes in life we meet people that remind us of ourselves. That for me was how I felt the day Jenna and Wayne came into my life. I left our first meeting and said to my husband, wow, this couple reminds me so much of us. She is an energy filled, creative spirit and he is a computer engineer. And that is just the start of the similarities. Every time I met with them, it was like we had been friends forever. As their wedding day approached, I knew the day would be beautiful and filled with romance, spontaneity and a lot of partying. They did not let me down. Jenna looked amazing, and the couple had a wonderful wedding day. Special thanks to Clay Wieland Photography, who, as usual, captured the couple and their fun-loving personalities.

Harriet Himmel Theater at Cityplace

As many of my clients know, the Harriet Himmel Theater in Cityplace is one of my favorite venues to work. The space is so versatile and historically beautiful all at the same time. Lucky for me, Doug Brown, owner of Ovations Catering also runs the Theater. Doug has assisted me in many beautiful events at the Harriet. Last year at this time, I was busy getting ready for Liz and Gavin's wedding. This most amazing wedding was held at the Spanish Monastery in Miami. With shades of burgundy and blush, and candles all around, the wedding had a timeless sense of romance. The couple mixed their passion for each other and that of great music to create one of our most dance filled weddings ever.

In the past season, I have been fortunate enough to plan several fabulous events at Mirasol Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens. Kelly and Gavin were one of my amazing couples. They were married in a beautiful ceremony at St. Patrick Church before partying the night away at Mirasol. With a gorgeous bride and a lush, romantic setting, the pictures were sure to be amazing! Holiday Entertaining - The Lux Look for Less

At this time of year I am bombarded with questions pertaining to holiday entertaining. This year, I wanted to take the time to post my favorite affordable ideas to make your party fabulous and budget friendly.

1-Make your centerpieces multi-functional.
If serving a sit down dinner, make the meal family style and use a collection of dishes and bowls as your centerpiece. This makes each table unique and delicious. Surround them with candles and loose flowers to complete the look. A large tablespoon at each place setting can serve as individual serving pieces and tied with a placecard they can add value to your table.

2-Fruit and Vegetables.
This is the decorating item that keeps on giving after the party is over. Use fresh fruits and vegetables cut in a glass (peppers or citrus), whole in clusters (artichokes or pomegranates), or as an accent to placecards and buffet items (small pears or apples). Do not be afraid to mix fruits and vegetables, some whole and some cut. After the party, use them in your favorite recipes so they do not go to waste!

3-Layering your Table
As my clients well know, I am always in favor of layering your table. Start with a great linen, add charger plates, then the napkin fold. Top it with a menu or placecard tied to fresh fruit or holly berries. By incorporating layers into the look of the table, the centerpiece carries less weight and can be more modest. Use an extra charger plate, place three candles of different heights in the center and surround them with loose cranberries, whole nuts or coffee beans.

4-Mix and Match
Every year you find some linens are missing, napkins are damaged, and pieces of china are broken. Do not worry. Go to your local home decorating store (Homegoods, Target, Pier One) and look for open stock pieces. Add color and splash by mixing it up. Have all white dishes but now the bread plates are broken, add all gold bread plates. Add gold to the centerpiece and you have a new look.

5-Most important - Have fun!!

From my years of doing weddings, I notice the subtlety that makes a couple dynamic - the short glances into each others eyes, the sly laughter at inside jokes, the beaming smiles when they talk about each other, and the sparks when they hold hands. Zoe's Bat Mitzvah

What do you get when you board the S.S. Zoe? Fun! Fun! Fun! Jensen Beach was abuzz with the tropical night that belonged to Miss Zoe. Family and friends celebrated as Zoe became a Bat Mitzvah. It is hard to believe such a sophisticated, charming, and intelligent young woman is only 13!
